ChatGPT ad examples: 6 ads and the chats behind them

Six example ads in the real ChatGPT format, one per industry. Each shows the conversation that would trigger it, the context hints behind it, and why the copy works inside 24 and 48 characters.

These are made-up examples. We wrote them to show the format. The brands are invented and none of them is a real advertiser. The layout follows the live app: brand row, the Sponsored label, then a title, a description and an image, below the answer.

01 · SaaS

what's a simple way to track projects and hours for a 10 person design studio?

At your size, the main thing is keeping briefs, time and billing in one place, so nothing slips between tools. …

Made-up example

Brieflane

Sponsored

Client work in one board

Briefs, hours and invoices for every client.

Title 24 of 24 characters. Description 44 of 48.

Context hints

  • Small agency or studio owner comparing project management tools
  • Team tracking billable hours across several clients
  • Someone asking how to stop missing client deadlines

Why it works

  • The title names the job, not the brand. The brand already sits in its own row above.
  • The description repeats the 3 things the person just listed, in their words.

02 · E-commerce

best lightweight tent for my first solo hiking trip?

For a first solo trip, look for a one-person tent that is light and quick to pitch on your own. …

Made-up example

Hollowpine

Sponsored

Solo tent under 1.2 kg

Pitches in 3 minutes. Free returns for 60 days.

Title 22 of 24 characters. Description 47 of 48.

Context hints

  • First-time hiker choosing a one-person tent
  • Someone comparing ultralight backpacking gear
  • Planning a solo overnight hike

Why it works

  • A number in the title answers the weight question before anyone clicks.
  • Free returns take away the risk of buying gear you have not held.

03 · Local service

water is leaking under my kitchen sink, can i fix it myself?

First, turn off the valves under the sink and check whether the leak comes from the trap or the supply hose. …

Made-up example

Kettleby Plumbing

Sponsored

Same-day plumber, Leeds

Leaks fixed today. Price agreed before we start.

Title 23 of 24 characters. Description 48 of 48.

Context hints

  • Homeowner with a leaking sink or pipe
  • Someone deciding between a DIY repair and calling a plumber
  • General location: Leeds

Why it works

  • The city is in the title because a local business only wants local clicks.
  • “Price agreed before we start” answers the real worry: a surprise bill.

04 · B2B

where can a small coffee roaster buy compostable bags in bulk?

Look for suppliers with certified compostable bags and low minimum orders, so you can test before you commit. …

Made-up example

Cratewise

Sponsored

Compostable bags, bulk

From 500 units. Free samples ship in 2 days.

Title 22 of 24 characters. Description 44 of 48.

Context hints

  • Small food or coffee business sourcing packaging
  • Looking for compostable or plastic-free packaging suppliers
  • Comparing minimum order quantities

Why it works

  • The minimum order is the question small buyers have, so it goes first.
  • Free samples make the first step small, which matters in a B2B purchase.

05 · Finance (allowed)

how do my partner and i stick to a monthly budget together?

Agree on a few shared categories first, then decide which bills you split and which stay separate. …

Made-up example

Pennywell

Sponsored

One budget for two

Shared categories and split bills, one view.

Title 18 of 24 characters. Description 44 of 48.

Context hints

  • Couple setting up a shared budget
  • Someone asking how to split bills with a partner
  • Looking for a budgeting app

Why it works

  • It sells a budgeting tool, not a financial product. No rates, no returns, no savings promise.
  • That is what keeps it on the allowed side of the policy. See the note below.

06 · Travel

5 days in lisbon in october, which day trips are worth it?

Sintra is the classic day trip, and it is worth going early on a weekday, before the crowds arrive. …

Made-up example

Tidewalk Tours

Sponsored

Sintra in a small group

8 people max. Pickup in central Lisbon at 8am.

Title 23 of 24 characters. Description 46 of 48.

Context hints

  • Planning a trip to Lisbon
  • Asking about day trips from Lisbon
  • Comparing guided tours with going alone

Why it works

  • It picks up the exact place the answer just recommended.
  • Group size and pickup time are the details people check before booking.

What the 6 have in common

  • The brand is never in the title. It has its own row, so repeating it wastes a third of your 24 characters.
  • The title answers the question. Weight, city, minimum order. The fact the person needs to decide comes first.
  • The description removes a worry. Returns, a fixed price, samples. Something that makes clicking feel safe.
  • Context hints describe situations, not keywords. Each ad has 3, close to each other, so the group gets enough volume.

What you cannot write

No health claims. OpenAI does not show ads near health, mental health or political topics (OpenAI), so a sleep aid, a supplement or a clinic will not get the example treatment here.

Finance is restricted. OpenAI’s ad policy generally allows financial tools that do not promote a financial product, such as budgeting apps. Financial services are reviewed case by case for approved US advertisers and are generally not allowed outside the US. That is why example 5 is a budgeting app and not a loan or a card.

ChatGPT may rewrite your copy

If you turn on text customization, ChatGPT can adapt your title and description to the conversation and translate them (OpenAI). The examples above are what you would submit, not always what a person sees.

Real ads, seen in the wild

The first live ads were spotted in February 2026. Adthena found Expedia ads for “Last minute weekend getaways” on the prompt “What’s the best way to book a weekend away?”, with a brand icon and a Sponsored label (MediaPost).

OpenAI describes the format in its announcement of the test: below the answer, labelled, and visually separate from it.

Selling many products?

Shopping placements need a product feed. The unit then shows product cards with a price, like the one on our homepage, instead of one title and description.

Write your own

Try a title and description against the real limits, then see how targeting picks the conversation.

Have us write them

We write the ads and the context hints, test the variants and report back. Fixed fee, no share of your ad spend.
